Winstead (Death Proof) will be starring in Universal's latest take on the alien shape-shifter for this reboot/prequel of the 1982 John Carpenter-Kurt Russell cult movie, which was a remake of 1951's "The Thing From Another World."
Matthijs Van Heijningen is directing and Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer are the writers of the sci-fi/horror movie. Strike Entertainment's Eric Newman and Marc Abraham and are producing the project which has been many things from the Dark Horse comic books to video games.
Winstead is playing a Ph.D. candidate who joins a Norwegian research team in Antarctica once discovering an alien ship in the ice. When a trapped organism is set free, a series of nasty attacks begin, and Winstead is forced to team up with a a mercenary helicopter pilot to stop the horrific rampage who's played by Joel Edgeerton.
A March 15 start date is set in Toronto ..
