Smallville is not just putting all of its eggs in into next month’s very cool looking Geoff Johns piloted Absolute Justice event, announcing that they have cast Odessa Rae in the role of the Silver Banshee...
TV Guide is reporting that she’s slotted to appear in the season’s 16th episode, called “Escape”; which if my finger counting is true, should air sometime in early March. Unlike the Absolute Justice storyline which will feature many classic characters hat have roots in the Golden and Silver Age of DC comics lore, Silver Banshee is a relatively new, less-storied character.
Looking at IMDB, Rae has appeared in roles in shows like Chuck, ER, Leverage, and was also in David Slade’s pretty freaky film Hard Candy. Silver Banshee first appeared in the mid/late ’80s in Action Comics, and Rae shares the name – Siobhan McDougal – of that character (a lot of times names will change or be an example of DC having many character don the same alter ego) in the episode. Strictly by power, in the comics she can be a handful, with super strength, durability, speed, a deadly sonic attack and the ability to teleport.
Last week we posted the trailer and poster for the aforementioned Absolute Justice. We also have many more guest appearances to look forward to outside of Rae and Absolute Justice, including the return of BSC-approved Serinda Swan as Zatanna. It’s also recently been announced that Annette O’Toole is set return and reprise her role as Clark’s mother. to Smallville stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance and Allison Mack and returns from its mid-season break on January 29th with “Disciple”.
